Learn practical Japanese while achieving JLPT certification.
Hi there! I'm a certified Japanese teacher who taught Japanese in the U.S. for over ten years. I've worked with students from all over the world. I specialize in teaching practical Japanese while aiming for JLPT to have proof in your hand. Why not get both at the same time when you can? :)
I've been taking private lessons with Yuka-sensei each week for years, which helps me prepare for JLPT (preparing for N2 this year).
I'm not a native English speaker, so we use mainly japanese during lessons; it's a bit challenging but really efficient.
Yuka-sensei uses slides and takes notes (vocabulary, key points, and explanations of errors I made during lessons) that she sends me by mail after each lesson.
At the beginning of each lesson, we talk a bit about news or general topics, too; it's always fun and refreshing.
For someone like me who has previously languished at the 'Beginner' stages of Japanese learning for many, many years, I have to say that joining Yuka-san's course has helped accelerate my understanding immensely over the space of a just a year ( initially following her impressive, in-depth Youtube lessons, which then led me to join her live, private Group Zoom lessons ). Yuka-san is an excellent teacher, who is able to explain Japanese very clearly - and even for me who is nowhere near as advanced as some of the other students, I am still now able to grasp most of the explanations and lessons, from N5/N4 level, even up to N3 - and now even some N2! I would add that Yuka-san is kind, patient, and happy to answer any questions, and the lessons are always enjoyable and very well-structured. There is also time enough for students to speak and practice Japanese during the Zoom class ( if they feel they are able to do so ). I always leave the live lessons feeling more confident about what I have just learned, and that makes me eager to review/revise the weekly supplementary pdfs that are sent out later, which are also very thoughtfully put-together and fun. All in all, I am happy to have invested my time with Yuka-san, and I would highly, highly recommend her teaching services to anyone, no matter which level of Japanese they may currently be at.
